Can We Combine The Role of Demand Planning And Supply Planning Into One Role?
The Planner!
Sounds like a movie title – the movie we have not seen and Pixar has not thought of….
What is the major advantage of uniting the two roles into one human being?
– Perhaps accountability so demand does not blame supply or supply does not blame demand.
What are some of the cons?
– It may be Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. But in reality the fire-fighting mentality of a supply planner will dominate the long-term mindset needed for a demand planner.
Any opinions? I would like to hear practical experiences from planners who serve currently as The Planner for the company or have served this unique role in the past…
